Litara ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, reading progress, session duration — collected via Firebase Analytics.
- Crash reports: Device model, OS version, and stack traces when the app crashes — collected via Firebase Crashlytics.
- Advertising data: Advertising ID and device information used to serve relevant ads — collected by Google AdMob.
- Purchase data: Subscription status processed by Google Play Billing. We do not store payment details.
- Locally stored data: Reading progress, vocabulary words, and your chosen username are stored only on your device using SharedPreferences and are never transmitted to our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To improve app performance and fix bugs (Analytics + Crashlytics)
- To display relevant advertisements to free-tier users (AdMob)
- To manage your subscription and unlock premium features (Google Play Billing)
- To personalise your in-app experience (locally stored preferences)
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

- Google Play Billing — Google LLC
4. Data Retention
Firebase Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default. Crashlytics data is retained for 90 days. Locally stored data (progress, vocab, username) remains on your device until you uninstall the app.
5. Children's Privacy
Litara is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
6. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any data associated with your use of the app by contacting us. You can reset your advertising ID at any time through your device settings.
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
